The Pioneer HS Boys and Girls Golf Teams both finished in second place at the Weslaco Golf Invitational this past weekend at Tierra Santa Golf Course. The teams battled windy and cold conditions on Friday to put themselves in contention but fell just short on Saturday to two very tough 6A schools.
The boy’s team finished the tournament shooting a 322 – 299 = 621. The team broke the 300 mark for the first time in school history shooting a 299 on Saturday in perfect golf conditions. LJ Chavez led the team with a two day 80 – 70 = 150 finishing in 4th place individually.
The girl’s team finished the tournament shooting a 373 – 343 = 716. Joslyn Lopez led the team with a 86 – 76 = 162 finishing in 2nd place individually.
