While the 0-2 (2-4 overall) Valley View Tigers, the Diamondbacks’ opponent tonight, are off to a slow start, they’re not a team that the Diamondbacks can afford to look past. And if there’s one thing that Pioneer head coach Tommy Lee is determined to do, it’s to make sure that early season success does not go to his players’ heads.
“They’re a good team and they’re going to play hard,” Lee said. “They’re going to come to our place and while we’ll be glad to be back home, we’re not going to take anybody lightly. We aren’t good enough to do that. We’ve had a lot of people say that we’re not this or we’re not that, but we’re playing with a chip on our shoulder. We’re always going to think of ourselves as the underdog and we’re going to come out every game and play hard.”
