McAllen High’s Lexi Gonzalez and Ava Alaniz were both selected to the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches’ Class 6A All-State first team, while two other Bulldogs, Geselle Soto and Westyn Henderson, were named to the All-Region second team in a recent announcement by the organization.

All four Bulldogs are juniors. Gonzalez is a goalkeeper, Alaniz a forward, Soto a defender and Henderson a midfielder.

In Class 5A, Sharyland Pioneer’s Miriam Lopez was named first team All-Region and was joined by teammates Olivia Vasquez as second team All-Region. Jocelyn Boyle was All-Region honorable mention. Lopez is a goalkeeper and senior for the Diamondbacks, while Vasquez is also a senior and a defender. Boyle is a junior midfielder.

Sharyland High’s Alejandro Castello was named first-team All-State for the Class 5A boys. Castello was a senior defender for the Rattlers.
