Bio -My name is Marissa Briseno, married for 25 years. I have three children, Ciaira who played at the college level (basketball/softball), and graduated from St.Mary's University with her Masters. Ashley is Texas A&M University graduate (BA,MA), and Darik is a Texas State University graduate. I have had 26 years of coaching under my belt. I cheered from junior high, high school, and at UTPA. Started my coaching career at Ida Diaz Jr. High where I organized the program into a striving group for three years. I then continued my coaching at B.L. Gray JH, where I started a jr. high competition team consisting of kids from B.L. Gray and Sharyland North. We went on to win various cheer competitions including Army Bowl Cheer Competition and UCA Regional Competition. I also helped coach All Star teams that won four UCA National Titles. At the creation of Pioneer High School, I took on the coaching position of our cheerleading program. Without our school being completed, I began creating traditions for our school. Participating at the UCA cheer camps, we continuously win accolades such as first place in Game Day, first place in rally routines, Leadership Awards (stand out team), Top Banana awards (most spirited). This has become a yearly tradition since 2014 for both JV and Varsity. UIL took cheerleading under their umbrella, hosting their first ever cheerleading State Championship in 2016. I coached our 2016-2017 to compete in the UIL 5A Spirit State Championship, where we competed against 121 teams, earning 6th in the State. 2017-2018 we won the UIL 5A Division II Spirit State Championship. 2018-2019 we won UIL 5A Div.II State Runner Up and I coach both JV and Varsity. With coaching, I organize pep rallies, make community appearances, help my team learn commitment, promotion and involvement within our school and community, while cheering at football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, while helping out at track and powerlifting meets.
